Trampoline Bouncing
Trampoline Bouncing, also known as rebounding, may not be one’s idea of strenuous exercise and may seem an unimportant addition to your health routine but it is in fact one of the easiest and most effective low-impact cardio workouts around.
What makes Trampoline Bouncing such a unique form of exercise?
At the pinnacle of each jump your body reaches a weightless state and then lands with twice the force of gravity on each bounce. This doubled gravity affects every muscle and cell of the body. Recent studies by researchers at the University of Kentucky, in conjunction with NASA focused exclusively on the effectiveness of “rebounding” as a form of exercise.
Here is an easy example which compares calories burnt jogging vs the amount of calories trampoline bouncing (units converted to the metric system):
a person weighing 70 kg spending one hour on a mini-trampoline will burn about 410 calories whilst the same person jogging for 1 hour (at a pace of 8 kilometers per hour) will burn approximately only 355 calories.
The researchers concluded: "These responses measured by whole-body vibration [on the trampoline] resemble those during mild exercise and suggest that perhaps body vibration could be used in place of exercise."
That interesting but what are the benefits to me?
Trampoline bouncing benefits you in the following ways:
- Fun & easy to use
- Improves endurance and overall fitness.
- Low impact whilst strengthening muscles and bones
- Improves balance and coordination
- Increases metabolism and hence daily energy levels
- It also lowers cholesterol levels, reduces stress, tension
